The next upcoming set of Scarlet & Violet TCG, Obsidian Flames, has been announced for August 11, 2023.

Obsidian Flames in the Pokémon TCG will bring in a new concept called type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex.

This means that certain Tera Pokémon ex cards will have a different Energy type than their usual type. For instance, Charizard ex, which is normally a Fire type, will appear as a Darkness type in this expansion. Similarly, Tyranitar ex, which is typically a Fighting or Darkness type, will be seen as a Lightning type instead.

Charizard ex, Tyranitar ex, Eiscue ex and Vespiquen ex are type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex. Also Dragonite ex, Greedent ex Revavroom ex, Melmetal ex are mentioned.

Also Trainers can play Scarlet & Violet - Obsidian Flames digitally on Pokémon TCG Live app (iOS, Android, macOS, Windows) from August 10, 2023. Logging in grants Battle Pass with new deck: Darkness-type Charizard ex. Crystals earned from quests unlock premium deck: Toedscruel ex. Currently unknown where Toedscruel ex will release in.
