2017 Topps Update Series Baseball Hobby & HTA Jumbo

Closing out the flagship collecting season, 2017 Topps Update Series Baseball is part three of the annual trilogy. Coming after Series 2, the fall set specifically features the late-season rookie options along with traded players on new teams.

The update product sticks with the one-hit hobby box and a jumbo format that includes one autograph and two memorabilia cards.

2017 Topps Update Series Baseball Base

Adding another 300 base cards, the 2017 Topps Update Series Baseball checklist brings with it a similar assortment of parallels. This includes Rainbow Foil (1:10 packs), Gold(#/2017), Vintage Stock (#/99), Mother’s Day Hot Pink (#/50), Father’s Day Powder Blue (#/50), Memorial Day (#/25), Platinum (1/1), and Printing Plates (1/1). Limited Negative and Black (#/66) parallels are only found in Hobby or HTA Jumbo formats. In addition, Clear parallels for a handful of rookies have just ten copies and are exclusive to Hobby boxes.

Naturally, 2017 Topps Update Series Baseball again promises Short Prints and Super Short Print Variations to chase. The SSP cards also have limited Autograph versions.

2017 Topps Update Series Baseball Inserts

Moving to the continuation inserts, Topps Salute (1:8 packs) again makes note of the key moments from the season while 1987 ToppsRookies, Rising Stars and Traded (1:8 packs) adds even more names to the retro-themed set. The ’87 insert also has Red (#/25) and Platinum (1/1) parallels.

Taking us beyond the current season, Topps All-Rookie Cup honors legendary rookie years with rookie cup reprints. Giving the elite pitchers their due respect, Untouchablesis for the Cy Young winners with playoff success.

Proving not all the cardboard action happens on the diamond, MLB Network (1:36 packs) inserts expand their coverage of those who make their living talking about the sport. These, too, add Autograph versions.

2017 Topps Update Series Baseball All-Star Hits

Getting to the hits, Update usually offers an All-Star theme and that is again the case for 2017 Topps Update Series Baseball. Signed versions include All-Star Stitches Autographs (#/25 or less), All-Star Stitches Dual Autographs (#/25 or less), and All-Star Autographed Jumbo Patch (#/10 or less) cards. These each offer Orange (#/10 or less) and Platinum (1/1) parallels.

Also celebrating the “Midsummer Classic” are relics in the main All-Star Stitches set. They are found in base versions, as well as Gold (#/50), Orange (#/25) and Platinum(1/1) parallels, for up to 60 players. There are also All-Star Stitches Dual (#/25) and Triple (#/25) inserts to go with the All-Star Jumbo Patch (#/5 or less) cards.

2017 Topps Update Series Baseball Autographs / Relics

Bringing signed editions of the various inserts, 2017 Topps Update Series Baseball includes Topps Salute Autographs and on-card 1987 Topps Baseball Autographs. The wood-based ’87 design is amplified with several parallels like Glossy (#/15 or less), Wood(#/10), Ash Wood (#/5) and Birch Wood (1/1).

Only available in Hobby or Jumbo formats, the Hank Aaron Award Commemorative Patch set honors the previous winners with Gold (#/99), Black (#/50), Platinum (1/1) and Autograph (#’d) parallels. Finally, there are the one-of-one Own the Name Relics(Hobby/Jumbo) and Cut Signatures.

Giving retail hunters an added incentive, 2017 Topps Update Series Baseball includes several options not found in hobby boxes. Purple base parallels are again exclusive to Toys R Us locations. In addition, Postseason Celebrations focuses on the playoff images of the last few years, along with BlueRedSilverGold (#/10), and Printing Plate (1/1) parallels.

MVP Award Winners is a Relic Box exclusive, adding Red (#/25), Platinum (1/1), and Autograph (#’d) versions. Offering a manufactured relic edition, the MVP Award Commemorative Medallion cards are also only found in the Relic Boxes. These have Gold (#/99), Black (#/50), Platinum (1/1) and Autograph (#’d) parallels.
